US Route 66 is one of the oldest and most popular railroad lines in the United States and consists of Arizona State Route 68, a stretch of the highway from San Bernardino County, California to San Diego County. It carries between 100 and 150 freight trains daily and is the busiest highway in Arizona and the second busiest in North America, just behind Interstate 5.

Kingman Terminal Railroad (KGTR) was opened on July 1, 1937 as the first railway terminal in the USA. Several large new districts in Kingmen were designed to house the skilled workers employed on the test site, as it was an evolving city with a high population density and high demand for railways.

The riverside town now attracts nearly 2 million visitors annually who flock to Colorado for water sports and participate in the annual Colorado River Festival, the largest water festival in North America. Kingman's population growth has also contributed to the city's tourism industry, as well as the development of a large number of hotels and restaurants. The high summer temperatures mean that the Phoenix-Colorado River Valley experiences the highest temperatures of any city in Arizona and the second highest on the US West Coast. Fourteen miles southeast of Kingmen is the beautiful Hualapai Mountain Park, which is located at an altitude of 6,700 feet.
